At the nature center, they learned about different plants in the area and helped with a service project of picking up plastic confetti that had been left in the grass at the center. The younger grades learned about proper hand washing, what germs are made of, the different parts of a mosquito, and plants that repel them. Older students learned about germ prevention, water sheds and pollution, and DNA extraction using a strawberry. Everyone got to play a germ game, where they had to throw a ball through a series of panels that represented all of the ways you can prevent illnesses.
