WP 8th Grade Take 1st at Sacred Heart Scholars Bowl

On February 23, 2017 the Western Plains Junior High participated in the Sacred Heart Invitational Scholars Bowl at Ness City. There were a total of seven schools that attended, including Healy, Sacred Heart/DC, Ness City Public school, Heartland Christian, Western Plains, Sacred Heart/NC, and St. Joseph. The first team that the seventh graders of Western Plains played against was Sacred Heart/NC. Western Plains won 70-40. The second team that they played against was Heartland Christian. Unfortunately they lost against Heartland, 50-60. The third team they played against was St.Joseph.  They lost 30-60. The last school they played against was Ness City. Western Plains won 50-30. Altogether they received 200 points. The seventh grade placed 2nd.  Team members for the 7th grade team were:  Darren Flax, Alana Strickler, Gage Ritchie, and Taniel Knutson.  (Taniel is not pictured.)

The eighth graders played against Sacred Heart. They won 110-10. The second team they played against was Healy. Western Plain lost 50-60. They also played against Heartland Christian. WP won 60-45. The fourth team they played against was St. Joseph, they won 60-50. The fifth team they played against was Ness City. WP won 80-40. The last team they played against was Sacred Heart Dodge City that ended with WP winning 35 -30. Altogether they got a total of 395 points. They got first place! We are so proud of our team for trying and giving a good shot at this event.
